Polygraph Examiner

Conduct Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing for a therapy group treating clients at various locations in Central Florida. Conduct limited testing for private attorneys. As a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, DeFuniak Springs, FL, conduct criminal specific polygraph examinations for that agency.

Performed a wide range of general law enforcement duties in the prevention, detection and investigation of criminal acts. Responded to crimes, conducted investigations, processed crime scenes, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses and suspects. Apprehended and arrested law violators. Performed police patrol in my assigned area with a view toward crime prevention. Testified in court. Worked with the citizens in my zone in identifying and solving community problems. Attended community meetings with residents, neighborhood watch groups, social, civic and business groups. Preserved order.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Polygraph Examiner - Conducted criminal specific polygraph examinations for all criminal justice agencies in Marion County, FL. Conducted pre-employment screening polygraph examinations for all prospective employees of the Marion County Sheriff's Office as well as two local police departments. Presented briefings and instruction concerning polygraph procedures and the proper utilization of the polygraph. Crisis Negotiator - Responded to scenes involving hostage takers, barricaded persons, suicide threats or similar incidents and attempted to resolve these problems peacefully. Used negotiation skills to support other tactical options. Background Investigator - Conducted background investigations, to include personal interviews and records checks, concerning prospective employees. Travelled as necessary to conduct investigations. Represented my department at background investigation associations.

Retired after eleven years service.

Chief Warrant Officer IV, Special Agent

Special Agent, U.S. Army Military Intelligence with the mission of preserving the security of the Army and the investigation of national security crimes committed by members and civilian employees of the Army. Also performed duties as a polygraph examiner and an instructor in the Military Intelligence field. Supervised other Special Agents. Received several awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and one award of the Legion Of Merit. These awards were all in recognition of excellence in performance and service. Honorably retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Office IV with more than 23 years of service.

Sep 86 - Sep 91
Department of Defense Polygraph Institute, Fort McClellan, AL
Special Agent, Polygraph Examiner, Instructor

Assigned to the federal polygraph school responsible for basic, refresher and advanced polygraph training for all federal examiners. Researched, developed, wrote and presented training in polygraph theory, mechanics and technology. Created and presented specialized training programs for various federal agencies and national polygraph training seminars. Assisted in the development of new polygraph techniques used to protect the security of the United States. Instrumental in evaluating new computerized polygraph systems including preparing instruction manuals, creating training programs, validating the systems and placing them in the field.

Served as chairman of the Continuing Education Committee. Analyzed continuing education needs, developed courses and selected course managers. Ensured that all courses were designed to fulfill needs, contained current doctrine, were properly advertised and that training could be presented both in-house and at remote locations.

Polygraph Detachment, 66th Military Intelligence Group, Munich, Germany
Operations Officer, Polygraph Examiner

Assigned, supervised and ensured the timely completion of all polygraph examinations conducted in support of U.S. Army intelligence investigations and operations throughout Europe. Conducted polygraph examinations pertaining to national security crimes, other felony crimes as they impacted upon a person's suitability to hold a security clearance and acts which may have adversely affected military operations and security. Supervised and trained intern polygraph examiners, prepared recurring statistical reports and presented polygraph lectures and briefings. Traveled extensively throughout Europe in the performance of this mission.

Improved the working conditions of subordinates by establishing a scheduling system that resulted in less time away from home for examiners, saved several thousand dollars per year in travel expenses and provided better support to user agencies. Authored an organization and functions manual used to eliminate duplication of effort and evaluate examiners.

FORSCOM Intelligence Training Detachment, Fort Bragg, NC
Special Agent, Senior Instructor

Assigned to an organization with the mission of training U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard personnel throughout the United States in investigative methods, analysis of intelligence information, and management of intelligence organizations. Supervised and trained subordinates; researched, wrote and reviewed instructional materials ranging from small unit training to division command post exercises; served as exercise controller; presented training programs; advised superiors concerning policy and doctrine; and served as the mobile training team leader. Led more than 75 training missions with no mission failures.

Karlsruhe Field Office, Karlsruhe, Germany
Operations Officer, Special Agent

Assigned to an investigative unit covering approximately 5,000 square miles in Southwestern Germany. Supervised six special agents and two German investigators. Assigned, directed, reviewed for accuracy, and conducted investigations involving national security crimes, other incidents or felony offenses affecting the security of the United States, and background investigations. Conducted liaison with all German and Allied police agencies within the unit's area of jurisdiction. Served as functional team leader of my higher headquarters' response task force, the purpose of which was to conduct investigations and operations throughout Southwestern Germany as needed. Developed and initiated a suspense system and quality control program which significantly increased accuracy and timeliness of investigations and reports.
